The First Post

Well, here’s the blog I said I’d probably keep. I don’t really know what to say. My first impressions? Bergen is beautiful. Like actually stunning. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a city quite so idyllic as my new home.

I’ve been here for over 2 months now and loved every second. How beautiful the old town is, how ridiculous it is to be surrounded by 7 mountains, but also, surprisingly, the very very very wet and windy weather.

My first experience of Bergen rain was so hard that it broke my waterproof coat. It didn’t tear through it but it stopped it being waterproof. Seriously. I took it off and my hoodie was damp as a blade of grass on an autumn morn.

Ooh look at me with my fancy similes.

Anyway, I’ve been on a couple of hikes so far, once up Fløyen, one of the 2 super famous mountains in Bergen, and where I took the header picture for this website, and one up Komsa in Alta. Yes, Alta, Finnmark, a 7 hour flight away. You can’t blame me for going up north, it’s flipping pretty up there and they speak Norwegian like I do too.

I’m considering doing some of my blog posts in Norwegian, come to think of it. Do let me know what you think about that, through whatever communication methods you may have with me. I’ll even turn comments on here.

Anyway, that’s enough rambling for now. Expect pictures, text posts, the possible occasional rant, and maybe some song lyrics from time to time. I’ll see what I feel like doing.

Ha det bra, folkens!
